Day 58 Tire just blew out with 3 cm tear
On my way to meet Mag and Ed in Cortez, my rear tire just went BOOM! I discovered a 3 cm tear in the tread surface. I don't have a spare rear tire, so I am using a granola bar wrapper to reinforce the tire at the damaged point (i'm writing as the repair glue dries). The other photo is above the Mcphee Reservoir, the building of which displaced a huge number of Anasazi artifacts.

From where the splits in the tire are close to the rim could it be that the tire was underinflated?
