Fri 12/01; Bike work, showing Jen's place, reading
I rode Jen's bike to Missing Link bicycle co-op (http://www.missinglink.org) for them to re-dish the wheel and install the 6 speed Shimano freewheel, then walked back to Jen's apt. The Missing Link mechanics were busy but got the bike done by 18:00.We were struggling to get the handlebars out of the stem, so we could install a new stem that would raise the handlebars higher. Clamp-type stems that require sliding the handlebar out sideways make changing to a different stem a lot of work. The new stem allows changing the stem or handlebars without taking off the handlebar tape, shifters, and brake levers. We weren't able to get the bar-end shifters out of the handlebars, there must be some trick to it.
We're still showing Jen's place to potential clients, but so far no takers.
I'm continuing the book "Earth Odyssey"; I'm trying to get it done before we go to Mexico, which we can do after Jen's place is rented.
