Day 25 Springfield IL: midday heat refuge at Lincoln presidential museum

Maggie and I made it from the Budget Inn motel in Lincoln, IL to Springfield, IL 30 miles luckily before the temperatures turned us into roast chicken. We decided to go to the Lincoln museum ($7.50 per adult) as one of our activities to pass the insanely hot 100+ F weather. I could see that Lincoln faced an impossible job trying to reconcile the competing factions in the US at his time and it was a worthwile exhibit (I don't automatically go to every museum I encounter when travelling; it is fair to say I attend them somewhat sparingly).

In the photo you can see Maggie with John Wilkes Booth and me with Gens. Ulysses S. Grant and McClellan.
